Hongqi HS5 is equipped with a low-power version of CA4GC inline four-cylinder turbocharged direct injection engine with a rated power of 165kW and a maximum torque of 340N·m. The engine is independently developed by FAW Group and adopts ten industry-leading technologies such as high compression ratio Miller cycle combustion technology, 350bar precise fuel injection technology, full MAP intelligent thermal management technology, and all-aluminum lightweight engine technology, with a thermal efficiency of 39%. The CA4GC aluminum steel body engine is light in weight, about 50% lighter than the same displacement cast iron cylinder body, and thanks to the platform mesh honing process, the engine reduces the wear of the cylinder and piston rings, and the service life of the whole machine is improved. The engine was selected as one of the top ten engines of 2019 by "China Heart".
The gearbox of Hongqi HS5 is a 6-speed manual automatic gearbox. The main fault characteristics of automatic gearbox are: there is rarely obvious burning of plates or parts, and the main fault phenomenon is basically concentrated on the shifting quality; many fault points come from the valve body, and the time of its occurrence shows a trend of developing towards low mileage.
